About Those Old Stoners
Those Old Stoners is a play on a line from Star Trek: Lower Decks, where Commander Ransom refers to the Star Trek: The Original Series (TOS) cast as “Those Old Scientists”. We’re a pair of middle-aged cannabis-consuming Trekkies with a lot to say.
Your hosts, Mike and Andy, proudly served together in the United States Navy onboard the USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) and USS BENFOLD (DDG 65). During their time in the Navy, both together and separately, they experienced events that live with them to this day. Each uses cannabis to help treat PTSD and chronic pain issues (pun intended).

Let’s be honest with ourselves – Star Trek is a lot of fun to watch while high.
Not only are the special effects fun to watch, each series carried its own socio-political messages and had respective episodes that continue to resonate with audiences today. Mike and Andy share their perspectives on how Star Trek has portrayed these issues over the years, how new series have given depth to old characters, and how certain episodes have effected them personally.
They’ll laugh, they’ll cry, and they’ll likely ramble a little, but Mike and Andy will get real and raw. Each episode is edited for quality, not content.
